This seems important, if we are going to take a serious look at the question* because while 10,000 rats may seem scary in a slasher film sort of way, it's unlikely that 10,000 rats would make a strategic assault on a person's life. 10,000 rats are closer to 10,000 gnats, because while most will flee there will be a few that aren't scattered and may bite, but nevertheless I think it sounds much more fearsome than it is in reality.

I just can't entirely wrap my brain around 10k defensive rats. Seems like an overwhelming number so long as they are doing their job and I hired the eagle Air Force to not kill any rats.

This is very much like a stupid game my friends and I played in college (we had waaaay too much free time). It was always the Alamo, adding elements to see what could tip the scales. Such as...

"The Alamo, but the Texans have an M1 Abrams tank..."
"Do they know how to use it?"
"Yes, they have a capable crew..."
"Oh, the Mexicans are screwed then"

I’d go with 10,000 rats and the guy with the gun.

The rats can keep all the attacking animals busy while the gunman picks them all off one by one assuming he has enough ammo and is a half decent shot.

Assuming I came out alive I’d feed the gunman to the rats as a thank you to them. I don’t want the rats turning on me as well.

The silverbacks are the obvious call here but I think I'd have to have the rats only because I don't want them against me.

Rats and Eagles sheer numbers, if things are coordinated and not just a brawl then then that is the correct answer, Eagle swoops down distracts and then send in the rats you've got about 150 rats per attacker, not too many animals going to survive that attack for too long, death by thousands of little bites. You need the eagles because technically they are the only ones that could defeat that rat army picking them off one by one.

The Eagles can clearly pick their battles but sheer numbers will win this day.
