I'm sure a lot of athletes do.. it's part and parcel of the job. But equally I'm sure that Murray went the extra mile more than the majority of them. But its the old argument what you are judged on.. effort or achievement? both are important if you are a professional sportsman.

While the media likes to report on sportsmens getting knighted, the Queen also awards many ordinary members of communities who have made worthy contributions.

Nothing against the bloke, he seems likeable and very dedicated to his sport. Just not really sure what the point of such awards is.

The only people that i respect and admire are the people who turn it down and there have been plenty of them over the years. There is nothing to be proud of being a willing servant of one the biggest parasitic and despicable organisations on the Planet and especially if you are a Scotsman.

Well deserved. Anyone who knocks him is a petty type. What he has achieved in his career and what he put his body through for many years to do that is immense. Hope his hips don't give him too much grief in retirement!

I mean, does it really mean anything at the end of the day?

I'm happy if he's happy like, but I don't see why such a great athlete as him needs this to feel vindicated

I don`t mind Murray, but his mum is one strange woman.

I`m surprised his missus hasn`t done away with her yet.

Imagine having Judy as your mother in law !

I'm a tennis fan and think he's been amazing for the sport in this country. However a knighthood aged 30 seems a bit odd for me.

Kneeling to a Monarch? I don't understand, especially a Scotsman. I think it's a disgrace to be honest. I'm not bothered about the royal family one way or the other, I do think there are loads of spongers in there but most of them are probably nice people but why would anyone ever kneel to someone and consider that an honour.
What did Charly boy do to get all that fruit salad on his blazer.

Nothing against him taking it that's his choice but as @Tubey says he's basically a hypocrite for preaching independence and then bending the knee.

Guess the prospect of being called Sir has overtaken his libertarian principles.

He's basically nullified his voice for Scottish independence, impossible to be viewed sincerely after this.

If Scotland had voted to leave the UK, the Queen would still have been their monarch.
