Much deserved!

Kneeling to a Monarch? I don't understand, especially a Scotsman. I think it's a disgrace to be honest. I'm not bothered about the royal family one way or the other, I do think there are loads of spongers in there but most of them are probably nice people but why would anyone ever kneel to someone and consider that an honour.

Well deserved. Anyone who knocks him is a petty type. What he has achieved in his career and what he put his body through for many years to do that is immense. Hope his hips don't give him too much grief in retirement!

If it were me, I'd have some dignity and stick by my own words and morals.

It's like pretending to care about the poor but happily taking a £20m dividend and banking it.

He's a Scot who wanted independence - to kneel before the queen after taking that stance is ridiculous.

I agree, but maybe he just wants a peaceful life. I imagine the James McClean mob would be baying for blood if he jibbed it off.

Many athletes do likewise though, don't they? The whole honours system seems antiquated tbh, especially as it seems to reward based upon fame as much as anything else. As if famous people need the extra validation of their awesomeness.

I'm sure a lot of athletes do.. it's part and parcel of the job. But equally I'm sure that Murray went the extra mile more than the majority of them. But its the old argument what you are judged on.. effort or achievement? both are important if you are a professional sportsman.

While the media likes to report on sportsmens getting knighted, the Queen also awards many ordinary members of communities who have made worthy contributions.
