Player Valuation: £35m
Seems to have recovered from his injuries, we know he has quality, pace and is a natural finisher....suffered from confidence in his last season with us. Could be available for knock-down price in January. Personally, I'd be happy to see AJ back rather than risking 2m on another unknown from argentina or someone from league 1. Some might see it as a step backwards but I don't, and to be honest if we got AJ back, got Landon back and kept Saha relatively fit then wth a forward line of Saha/AJ, Landon, Drenthe with Rodders, Felli and Baines supplying the balls (and Velios, ) Cahill, Ossie on the bench) would leave me pretty positive for the second part of the season without breaking the bank. In fact, if BK says Moyes has money to spend, then 2m on AJ and the rest on Drenthe makes sense to me

First Mcfadden, now Johnson. It would portray a massive step backwards for us to our competitors

Not necessarily. We sold Johnson after a decent time with us because he missed London. We sold McFadden because he was complete and utter shyte.

Isn't AJ 31 or smth? We need something who has some life left in him.

Saha's 33, and Landon is 29/30....both have plenty left in them. AJ on a 2 1/2 year deal would make him Saha's age

I think Moyes's thinking with McFadden is sometimes we need something different in the last 15 mins but we don't have that on the bench...so McFadden was free so might as well take him.

Put it this way, would I rather see AJ off the bench in the last 30 mins or another Straq gamble? Right now, given our position and lack of funds, I would take AJ (unless Henry wants to come to us on loan!)

Well the age is an issue as I don't see him setting the world alight nor him improving in the future. But I guess you have a point about bench fillers. Haven't still seen enough of Stracq tho' to totally write him off (He hasn't really got much minutes yet and most were quite shortly after his arrival).
