Everton coach Andy Holden has been sacked by the club - SportsDirect News understands - the first major casualty of the new regime under Roberto Martinez.
Reserve team boss Holden has been at Goodison for almost 20 years since Joe Royle took him into the management team.
Holden learned his fate on Monday morning as Martinez started shaping his own staff, making way for new arrivals like his old Wigan Athletic assistant Graeme Jones.
Welshman Holden, 50, has been a familiar figure at Everton for years - spending time with the first team and the reserves.
But now Martinez is bringing in his own people, with the reserve team vacancy now up for grabs.
A spokesman for the club was unable to confirm or deny the news.

Lazy journalism :D

Stubbs is the Reserve team manager, losing Holden just means Martinez will have to find 2 Coaches now.

As I understand it Holden was reserve manager, then Stubbs joined him in joint-management and eventually Holden took more of a backseat. As Neville is just getting started in coaching and has assisted Pearce with the England U21 side, it would seem to be a natural role for him. Whether it would be enough to attract him is another matter, I suppose.

.@SDN_sportsnews Everton already has a reserve team boss so the role is not 'up for grabs'.

Read a story yesterday that Stubbs was set to ok youngsters going out to Weir at Sheff Utd.

Erm...when did he get power to do stuff like that?

Whether it's true or not, we're going to have to accept that Martinez will want to bring in coaches who coach football the way he likes it to be played.

I wouls guess that everybody at Everton has been told about their futures under Martinez in the last few weeks.
Andy Holden it seems to me has been taking a lesser role for the last number of years.
