Joao's thread on expats got me thinking about our US based Brits...how did you end up here? It's not exactly easy to get a visa to the US anymore...what's your story? What do you miss most about England's green and pleasant land? What do you like best about living here?
 

Interesting thread. I've thought for a good while about moving abroad (again, currently living in Germany) and USA is top of the list, well, maybe second behind Canada. The visa issue is incredibly disappointing though, it's next to impossible.

Seems the easiest way is to come to university here...then you can can get a working visa for a couple yeas without employee sponsorship...gives you an opportunity to make yourself valuable to an employer so the will incur the cost and process for what is called an H1B visa.

Yeah but if you've already been to uni for five years and need the money a full time job brings, starting uni again is a no-go...
