an end to this 'FIFA are fixing it for Brazil' nonsense

It wasn't enough for Howard Webb's supremely-controlled neutral handling of the Brazil-Chile tie to put the 'Referinho' and 'fix' claims to bed. It wasn't even enough when Colombia's hitman escaped punishment for two brutal fouls, one of which putting Brazil's biggest superstar since Ronaldo out of the tournament. What about Brazil's captain escaping that crucial yellow card which would keep him out of the semi, and thereby wiping his card slate clean? Nope, the 'referinho' booked him anyway. Must be a fix.

Now, those Brazilian-loving FIFA have refused to take back Silva's yellow card and also refused to retroactively punish Zuniga for his part in this host nation disaster.

Fix, I tell yas!

If they took retrospective action for incidents in the Colombia vs Brazil game then Brazil might not be able to field 11 players tonight.

I don't think anyone thinks FIFA are conducting a shadow conspiracy to fix it for Brazil, but I think the home pressure on referees favours them as it would in any domestic club game. Except in this case, it's an entire nation calling them a w****r.

Its as if people think that home advantage is nothing more than a figure of speech?
Its an empirical fact in sports.
Whether league or international football, the home team will get small advantages, through the referees being swayed, and through the players (and opposition) being influenced by the crowd and environment.
There's no rigging. Its just that.
Thankfully it will end tonight when Germany beat Brazil.

@dholliday refuting a conspiracy theory? Have the Google machines assimilated you?

I'm one of the debunkers round here, so yeah.

i'm also one of those google robots, but to further AI development i've been given a name, avatar and sort of a personality. Still early days, clearly.

It was a reverse fix. They bet against themselves to lose by 5+ goals.

Their goal at the end was to make it less suspicious ?

;)

They were given the game against Croatia.
Horrible cheats and worst Brazilian side ever.

I wish Germany had smashed them for double figures.

I'm sure there's a Brazilian version of this out there somewhere....
