Going to amsterdam for my first time in feb, anyone give us an idea of what to expect and places worth goin an that? Will be blitzed the whole time so not assed about museums.

Iv been 8-9 times, used to love the place. Not been for about ten years now though..

Take it easy, don't get too excited or carried away. Easy to get too effed up and in a foreign place, ain't good.

Watch out for Russian dealers, don't buy anything on the streets.

We found the museums were really good, its amazing what a bit of weed does to your concentration!

The Heineken museum was decent as was the Anna frank house! We hired pedallos on the river which was interesting!!

Expensive beer, scruffy African tramps selling coke on the canals and lots of ladies in windows..........oh and a weird smell..........good though

Very good going back in April, went for the first time in October and loved it. BUT watch out for picklockets around red light and dam square at night, had some eastern european lads pretending to be best mates with us, arms round us, where you from etc and got home and they'd had my passport and my mates wallet.

Been a few times, one, long story, but it involved being mugged while tripping in a C&A doorway and walking through sector 7 in the early hours, not advised.
Brilliant place if you're sensible, scary dangerous if you get cocky

Didn't rate it myself. Took a canal boat trip and the environs are quite pretty but the main section of town is grubby and unattractive. Didn't like the vibe in the bars, but I was passing through during the day so didn't experience the nightlife.

i lived there for a while
never buy anything of anyone on the street, never ever trust anyone who approaches you on the street, stick to hash if your visiting the coffee shops and stay away from the super skunk otherwise youll be a paranoid wreck.
i havnt been back in a few years but if la rocka is still there give it a blast. Pop into the temple bar irish pub in the red light area and ask the bar staff for a few pointers, most of them are brits or irish in there. Enjoy, its an amazing city.

Do a bit of research into the best coffee shops if you're into your green. Avoid the tourist spots which tend to have overpriced, [Poor language removed] weed.

I like the place. Only continental European city apart from Lisbon I think I could handle living in.

Been a few times, not really a fan of the place, then again im not into drinking and getting stoned, brasses are sound though, lots of scousers knocking about.

in the little booths where you can watch a live show by inserting coins for the curtain to go up?.............if you drop a coin NEVER pick it up lol

Planning on going myself next month, never been and must admit since wanting to go I've only heard bad things!
