Just booked a last minute 3 days in Amsterdam to treat our best friends....any recommendations for great drinking places (ideally craft beers and cocktails) plus cool eating places that aren’t too expensive? Looked on google and there’s shed-loads but always reckon a recommendation is better. In terms of eating then proper burgers, steak or bbq type restaurant, Italian or something local.

Was planning doing the seedier stuff the first night followed by a bit more relaxed the second....and maybe back to the seedier bit again on the third. Already located the best ‘coffee bars’.

Ta
Can’t go wrong with the Tara on Rokin. Loads of great Belgian beers and good quality grub.

For that something cool and special you have to book supper club on Koningsplein, for the best experience book a bed instead of a table.

Top food and amazing atmosphere. There was another bar where you eat in total darkness with all the waiters wearing night vision goggles, can’t remember where it is as I was hammered when I went.

Bar-B Burgers 'n' Beer was really good when I went last October. It's got a normal menu but there's also a design it yourself burger menu, with a charge per topping/patty/sauce. If you like Heineken you can get a table where there's a tap to pour your own pints. Otherwise there's a decent beer selection on offer.

bulldog bar's and the grasshopper are worth a visit to, they are obv the well known bars but they are decent.

Ricks Cafe & Suzies Saloon on the Voorburgwal look it up on Facebook if your interested in partaking of some nice herb and listening to some great Jukebox music.
