Amir Khan Fires Freddie Roach

Roach does spread himself thin with having too many world class fighters in his Gym, and he didnt get the attention a world class fighter needs from his coach

Spot on for me. I understand why manny is roach's number one but nipping to the Philippines can't be perfect for khan plus I think the difficulties with the build up to his last fight certainly over timing proved to khan the situation was untenable.

On his new trainer a lot of talk of virgil hunter (trainer of the year /flavour of the month) or pedro Diaz who trains cotto but really only speaks Spanish so I'm not sure how that'd go. I know those names are out there but I don't think anyone really knows

can't blame freddie for his inability to take a hard punch. As long as he lets himself get hit the way he does he is always going to go down it isn't rocket science. He tries brawling and he isn't up to it.

Rather than his chin for me it's just he's either not told what to do in there or he simply doesn't listen but either way he probably needs a change of scenery

The lad believed his own hype too much. It can't have helped not being Roach's priority fighter but on the other hand he got to spar a lot with Pacman so that can't have harmed his progression. He's just not as good as he thinks he is.

Roach also does a lot of striking work with some of the top UFC fighters as well.

The man is in high demand. Khan does have a lot of ability, but he does need to work on his defence if he wants to be in the elite ranks.

I think that's a decent assessment , I don't think he's crap but he is nowhere near as good as he thinks and he seems to really lack any kind of 'fighters brain ' I van imagine him looking brilliant on the pads and in training but the first time he takes one on the chin he falls apart

He's not clever enough to avoid brawls, then gets sparked when he tries to prove he can brawl. Will never beat anybody at the top level IMO.

I'd love to see Manny v Khan early next year , always got the impression that Manny doesn't like Amir all that much , it's a fight that would definitely sell .

Don't know if anyone has seen these quotes from roach about manny, khan and Garcia ?

speaking to a select group of media members on Thursday inside of the Wynn Hotel and Casino, Roach revealed that he had actually had a preference of Pacquiao facing off with Garcia with the obvious hope being that his star fighter would end up outperforming Khan.

“I wanted him to fight the guy Garcia, Danny Garcia,â€￾ Roach revealed. “I wanted that fight because Amir Khan says that I don’t teach defense to him and Manny Pacquiao. Why did he compare himself to Manny Pacquiao? It depends what I taught him. Let’s see what Manny does with your last opponent. Manny wouldn’t lose a round.â€￾
