I hope you guys enjoy Funes Morí as from next February if he can be bought at all it will be at twice the price at least if the new Liga de Campeones de las Américas begins as planned next February. The sixty four team tournament from Alaska to the Antarctic will give each team five million dollars to participate with the winner getting thirty. This will be a revolution in World football and will practically end overnight the South American players leaving for Europe.
It's not a done deal but it's very close and the collapse of the corrupt gangsters at the head of both Conmebol and CONCACAF has given the club's the opportunity to get it in place if not in 2015 definitely in 2016.

Travel from places in North America to say Buenos Ares will be tough for midweek games. Could make the quality of play quite rough.

This is a good point. It's a very interesting idea though.
Hope it happens mate, not only is it going to be better for your leagues to keep their better players but also for at lot of the players too as they won't have such financial pressure to leave family and friends.

If it happens no more than the premier league or the European champions league it will have advantages and disadvantages. For the likes of River it will return it to being one of the World's great clubs still selling some as the school is so big but keeping many international players they are not able to do now.
But probably for the likes of Lanus Stracqualursis team a mid ranked club who have won two national titles in last ten years it won't be so good.Sure there will be years when they play but bit by bit the difference between River Boca and Lanus will get bigger.
Is that good I personally as a River fan think not but it's this globalisation.

Fair point that those that regularly make the competition will begin to financially dominate those that don't.

How is tv revenue shared out? If that is large (and it might increase by keeping the better players) and shared out equally then it might offset some of the difference.
