Now I'm sure the wrath of some Americans will be incurred upon me. But may I ask why are the American people in general so damn loud. Just come back from Dom Rep, and it seemed every night was a Frat party.

It was easy to spot the nationalities. The quiet one's were us Brits, the Russians and some of the other Eastern Blocks. The noisy ones were the Italians and Americans. Now I'm not complaining - I was just wondering. I have many American friends, so no offence is intended - it was just a wonderment.

The Brits have their moments mate, we can be the most obnoxious of all on foreign shores which is a shame as its the minority who let the majority down.

And the Russians? Ive lost count of how many of them go beserkers on the vodka in the evening time.

Did you do Karate on the Armenian?

At the gym last night there was a black man. He had a huge doodle. My admiration was only shaken by the gay man squeeling whilst flouncing about the changing room in delight at what he saw. At which point the skinhead gave him a beating for being a poof. Alas, whilst the skinheads back was turned the scouser pinched his kit bag.

Yeah, you get lots of loud people in the metro areas.

Start getting out in the country and people are quite a bit more laid back.

Seinfeld

There was a great Seinfeld episode that focused on how loud people from Texas are. George went down to visit some people from the Houston Astros (when he worked for the Yankees). They were all calling each other b@stards and sons of b!tches. Then when George came back from Houston he was calling everyone the same and getting everyone angry. Boy do I miss that show, best sitcom ever in my opinion.

I am an American, and at times am embarrased about how some of us act abroad. Generally though, I would second someone's earlier remark that we are usually a very hospitable, gracious lot. Please do not identify the typical American as a right wing George Bush wannabe, (we aren't all as smart as him):D
