Take raw beef, cook over open flame and hey presto authentic American barbeque. Which no civilization has ever thought of doing ever.

So I have read every page on the American food thread. The majority of them had my mouth watering. Can any of our American cousins post their recipes in here.

I just learned the simplest thing ever.

Macaroni
Cheese

Boil 1 cup mac
Drain...no rinse
Add nearly 2 cups shredded cheese (I used cheddar) to mac in pot. Stir unmelted.
Cover pot for 5 minutes

Mac n cheese...simplest thing ever. My drug dealer taught me this.

I think @RAFUH and @mezzrow are going to be able to help you the most here. All of @ilikecheese's consist of (1) found this in my pantry, (2) added cheese to it, (3) heated to melt the cheese [optional]

But if you've got time to spend, maybe check this out? I can guarantee this is not what every civilization in the history of the world has decided to do with pork ribs. Probably not great recipes, but might be a good introduction to American views on how to prep foods.

My quickest answer is to start with these two sites. I have consistently found this the best source of excellent, clearly explained recipes that work.

This is a public TV offshoot of Cook's Illustrated magazine. It is New England based, but they do good work with the other regions as well. You can get access to the last year of programming for ATK and Cook's Country for the past year without joining - there will be plenty here to start with.

Just hush, anyway. That woman could put one of her biscuits on your flat head, and your tongue would slap your meagre brains out, bud.

Low country Georgia folks stick together. It'll be like a p**s up at a Huyton wedding before you know it.
I actually like paula, although it did knock me a bit sick when she started doing shots of melted butter

Meatloaf that i've cooked before

Ingredients

1 tablespoon of oil
1 onion (chopped)
1 very large celery stalk (chopped)
2 garlic cloves (minced)
1 jalapeno pepper (chopped)
2 teaspoons of salt
1/2 teaspoon of cumin
1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
2 eggs
1/2 cup of milk (4oz)
1/2 cup of dry bread crumbs
1lb of ground beef
1/2lb of ground turkey
1/2lb of ground pork
Bacon

The glaze

In a bowl, mix equal amounts of Tomato sauce, brown sauce, mustard and brown sugar together. Enough to make 1 cup.

Heat oven to 350° F. In a frying pan, over medium heat, heat the oil with the onion, celery, garlic, and jalapeño and cook until the vegetables are tender but not browned, about 8 minutes. Add the salt, cumin, and nutmeg. Remove from heat. In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, then blend in the milk, 1/2 a cup of ' your glaze ', and bread crumbs. Add the meat and cooked vegetables and stir or work with your hands to combine. Pat into a 9-by-5-inch loaf pan (greased to prevent sticking). Cut the bacon strips in half and lay over the loaf, tucking the ends in. Using the remaining 1/2 cup of ' glaze ', brush some of the glaze onto your bacon. Bake 1 hour and 15 minutes. Every 20 minutes or so, remove from oven and apply more glaze. Remove from oven andpour off the fat. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.

Can be served with anything, chips (fries)... on bread, with potatoes and veg.

one of those dishes you have to keep an eye on as it could burn easily...

Agree. I don't know that I can offer any more. When I don't know or remember how to make something, I call my mom or grandma lol
