Haha. No my mom was first generation from Hungary and my dad was second generation of Dutch/Irish descent. We don't have deep roots in this country.
Where I live, in the Shenandoah Valley, there are quite a few civil war battlefields.

Why Everton brother?
A friend back in 1999 or so was a supporter of Man U. He snarkily said "You probably support a team like Everton" and meant it as a put down. I sort of started following them (to the extent possible since there wasn't much coverage in the USA) on and off just to show him up. In 2009 I moved to Virginia and found a group of friends all of who were footie-crazy like me (in terms of playing). They all had different PL teams they supported, so I just stuck with Everton and by 2010 it was much easier to watch them on TV.
The short version: No good reason. (Edit: this is probably typical of most Americans, you just sort of "find" a team and start supporting them).
