American/English 'English...not bothered. The phrase above is incorrect though when used by anyone...in my experience it is North American...but as many people will know that is not worth much if you look at things sensibly...but this is an internet forum.

As for Arkansas, I'm firmly convinced it is for a similar reason to Derby, ie. that's how they say it there.

There are a host of places here in Massachusetts folks look at us funny when we say them:

Worcester == Wuss-ter
Peabody == Pee-buddy
Haverhill == Havrill
Chatham == Chatum
Swampscott == Swamp-skit
Raynham == Rain-em

...anything ending with 'ham' actually...

What about Leicester and Gloucester ?

What we need here is a case study. Hats off to lcab and our good mates from L6 and environs for introducing us to the wonders of Scouse as a language of its own. Let me share this dispatch from a few miles west of my current location, regarding a robbery and getaway. I understand the gentleman in this clip completely, and will happily interpret for any who have inquiries as to WTF he is describing. He does have a certain fashion sense, it must be said.

I do wonder if Chico will tell us where the robber was holding him at the time, however.

I live in Edmonton and all of our Oilers fans didn't even wait to get to the Stanley Cup final before they started rioting. Just getting to the Stanley Cup Playoffs seemed to be enough.

They had a HUGE police presence there for each game and for some of them the riot police even had to be called down. This went on for quite a while as well. Eventually the team came out and told everyone to quit being blerts and destroying stuff, and then it died down.
