Am I Missing Something?

So when we first brought Naismith, I thought "oh good buy, will work alongside Jelavic well"... Since then he's played terrible match, after terrible match etc, mostly from the bench.

I thought it was just Moyes who liked playing him, maybe he would replace Phil Neville as the "joker" of the team.

Yet now he continues to be a substitute for Martinez.

So what's the big deal with him? Am I missing something? Is he really brilliant?

There must be something Moyes & Martinez are seeing in him...

He works hard. And he has a knack of being in the right place to score.

They are his only two assets. Genuinely the only two things in his locker. Everything else is woeful.

The second point is kind of null and void because he's not a striker, so he needs to do a lot more than just score every so often. And I thought we'd moved past the days when running like Marcus Bent because an acceptable substitute for quality?

He may yet come good and if so I'll hold my hands up, but right now he just looks appalling.

Sorry mate very much like Victor, just not going to happen.

Not just Moyes and Martinez that see something in him, I was slating the useless git today and everyone sitting by me were singing his praises?

Just don't it????

Naismith had a good pre-season and gave some decent performances.

People just like having a scapegoat. I remember back in the late 1980s when people used to treat Adrian Heath the exact same way.

There are worse players than Naismith at Everton. Leon Osman has been consistently appalling for 3 games in a row now.

Mirallas, for all his talent, didn't play well, and Jelavic doesn't appear to understand the offside rule.

Martinez can't come in and upset the place from minute one (unless you want Villa of last year) only when the Baines/Fellaini money comes in has he options.

He's tinkering round the edges till he gets his own players doubtless Nais sees Neville going and his own pre season as worthy of a go (fair dos imo) upsetting senior pros without backup is a big call.

Just gotta go with the flow this year.

Like Jelavic he did well in pre-season.

Probably got 1 more game to perform before hopefully being found out and dropped

Every player starts with a clean slate, Martinez must see something in training for him to gain a place on the bench, it may not last, he didn't get into today's game. Come 60 minutes today the game needed a fresh change but we never made a sub until 70. Those 10 minutes could've been vital in getting one of our subs into the game.

It's quite unbelievable to watch him week in week out consistently get caught off over and over again.

He also wins absolutely everything in he air. I don't think I've ever seen him lose a header against anyone. I really like him. I wish he was a better footballer because the way he handles himself on and off the pitch and the fact that he just gets his head down even when he's obviously having a stinker is very "Evertonian". If he was good he'd be absolutely loved by the fans.
