It was a complete nightmare last night for all of us; I'm certain that the blues will not fade away for a long time but as the title of the thread says, let's move forward and remain positive and not allow this result to dampen an exceptional debut season under the stewardship of Martinez, which has the potential to get even better as the season goes on.

1) We have still only lost three games in the league this season and are still in contention for European qualification of some description and the FA Cup.
2) This sounds very much like a Brendan Rodgers' quote but once again we showed our dominance in terms of possession against a team that supposedly pride themselves on tidy football, hence why they only had 39% of the ball and scored their third through very direct play.
3) We have visited all the supposed big teams, apart from Chelsea, and gave terrific accounts of ourselves in those fixtures, bar last night. We defeated Man Utd at Old Trafford for the first time in 21 years, gave the probable champions a real fright at the Etihad and out- Arsenaled Arsenal at the Emirates.
4) We have an immediate chance to rewrite the wrongs of last night in what will be a difficult game against Villa on Saturday. With the likes of Barkley and pienaar likely to be fully fit, we have a chance to exploit their vulnerability and produce a performance that not only wins us the game but gives us a real boost ahead of the forthcoming fixtures, which include a trip to White Hart Lane.
5) We are still overachieving in my eyes. There has been no transitional period; everything has clicked perfectly and we are playing some excellent football, which has earned us a place amongst the Premiership elite and in the latter stages of the best cup competition in the world, which I think The RS will be eliminated from in the next round.

Last night was painful and one of my worst memories of derby day but we are still progressing forward. A win on Saturday puts us back into contention and we are not far away and we will have the likes of Coleman and co back fully fit soon, to aid our charge in the absence of Lukaku. It is going to be a difficult few days, yes, but let's keep positive and keep going.
Apologies for how cheesy this post is but we have to keep our heads up and not sulk and move forward.
Allez Allez oh

Liverpool at home have been outstanding

Look how many goals they have scored ffs, Suarez and Sturridge is one of the best partnerships in the league and yesterday they demolished our make shift back four

Would love to have a chairman who could sanction a 25m move a striker but we all know that will never happen

Do you know it has not bothered me half as much as previous losses to that lot. More a take it on the chin as apposed to feel gutted or brought down to earth that there any better than us. Tactically we got it wrong. The defence was the the wrong choice in heindseight. And we literally compounded to it by trying to hard to attack and get back in the game.

There was no bottling it, or sitting back it was just one of those games where everything went wrong. It's happened to utd Chelsea spurs all of them in derby games.

More to point, we have the players with the attitude who I'm fully confident will come back from it just as strong.
Give me a couple of transfers by deadline day and I'll be optimistic again!

We lost the battle...I still think we could win the war!

one too many injuries IMO.
Could of been a great game either way without them for both sides, but we couldnt cope fielding so many half fit players.

Also terrible tactics didn't help

it bothered me that we totally went out from the kick off and commited suicide defensively, we started the game like it was the last 10 minutes and we were trying to get an equalizer, theres going for it and having a go and then theres showing a total lack of respect for the opposition, yes we had a makeshift back four but there not schoolboys and it was shambolic and an embarasment, how can you leave players with pace totally unmarked constantly? im sorry i agree with some of the things you say, but that last night was garbage from start to finish, weve lost versus sunderland, dropped points versus stoke and wba. and been totally battered by liverpool, who themselves had all their back four missing but did they embarrass themselves and the supporter? no they didnt. and yes we did bottle it we lost 4-0 and it wasnt just one of those games it was same old same old at anfield the players never turned up or played with any real pride.

Rodgers knew we would play keep ball and work our way up the pitch with Baines/Stones moving out of postion to help

Defend in numbers, win the ball back and use Sterling/Sturrudge/Suarez pace against a back line that's exposed

Rinse and repeat for 90 mins

Yeah i'm over it, cba to get too hung up on football. Get annoyed at the time but the day after i'm usually fine.

Last night apart its been an enjoyable season so far.
True.... Oddly close to last season in that we have scored the same amount of goals and have 1 point more, but a world apart when it comes to our midfield and defensive passing.
Good to see a dramatic change that hasnt wrecked our season.

The points/goals thing being near the same does not tell half the story for me

Bringing in players like Lukaku/Del/Barry/Mcarthy and Barkley being a first team regular have made us a much better team to watch

Going to Utd and Arsenal and actually playing football and coming away with some pride is the big one for me

If we're honest, most of us will say we worried that games like last night would have been the norm, rather than the exception, when Bob took over. The fact that we have had a first half of the season as we have makes last night a shock. However, most of us were also fed up with Moyes's negative tactics so we can't have it both ways.

We played like the home team, the RS played like the away team by filling their penalty area and counter-attacking. It was painfully obvious that Jags and Alcaraz weren't used to playing together and aren't capable of giving a head start, especially against the likes of Suarez and Sturridge. I don't like to admit it but we need a Suarez or Sturridge-type player ourselves. Maybe if McGeady had been fit enough to start?

We played the wrong tactics against the wrong team. Draw a line under it and learn from it is what I say.

Pretty much agree. We need another striker.

Rogers got it spot on and we naively played into their hands. We needed to steady the ship at 2-0 but just kept going. These things happen. We kept trying to play but it was not our night. There was no lack of effort or anything, we were out thought first half and the game was over by half time.

I think thats over the top the be honest.

Stones, in particular, was obviously quite green when it came to when and how far to push up. Thats shown most obviously by the 3rd goal. However you can't legislate for such a poor performance by Alcatraz in the first half, even if he is coming back from injury. Thereafter Jags looked just as shaky, but I can kind of understand that considering he had to work with two new partners. They targeted our right back, as you would have suspected and it paid dividends.

To say they didn't play with pride is a complete nonsense as they kept at it for the 90 minutes when to most watchers it was a lost cause by half time. We didn't have the players to get back into it really, as we lost Lukaku and gained nothing in a player who barely touched the ball and can't control it anyway.

As soon as I saw the back 4 I knew it was gonna be a rough night. Alacraz and Jags against the pace of Bucky and Sturgeon!!! The ray of hope was that maybe we could match them goal for goal. Then it was clear from the first 15 that Lukaku was in lazy-mode ... and then, well lets say any team with Naismith as a striker is never going to match anyone goal for goal :)

I'm not embarrased to say it, I fired up Battlefield 4 when Lukaku was injured and put the match on the ipad on the background instead.... I knew the script from there. Just glad it was less than 6 to be honest

I just cant fathom that statement. I'm happy for you, I wish I could put that mauling from our rivals aside so easily.

That result will have massive ramifications. It cant neatly have a line drawn under it I'm afraid.
