It was a complete nightmare last night for all of us; I'm certain that the blues will not fade away for a long time but as the title of the thread says, let's move forward and remain positive and not allow this result to dampen an exceptional debut season under the stewardship of Martinez, which has the potential to get even better as the season goes on.
1) We have still only lost three games in the league this season and are still in contention for European qualification of some description and the FA Cup.
2) This sounds very much like a Brendan Rodgers' quote but once again we showed our dominance in terms of possession against a team that supposedly pride themselves on tidy football, hence why they only had 39% of the ball and scored their third through very direct play.
3) We have visited all the supposed big teams, apart from Chelsea, and gave terrific accounts of ourselves in those fixtures, bar last night. We defeated Man Utd at Old Trafford for the first time in 21 years, gave the probable champions a real fright at the Etihad and out- Arsenaled Arsenal at the Emirates.
4) We have an immediate chance to rewrite the wrongs of last night in what will be a difficult game against Villa on Saturday. With the likes of Barkley and pienaar likely to be fully fit, we have a chance to exploit their vulnerability and produce a performance that not only wins us the game but gives us a real boost ahead of the forthcoming fixtures, which include a trip to White Hart Lane.
5) We are still overachieving in my eyes. There has been no transitional period; everything has clicked perfectly and we are playing some excellent football, which has earned us a place amongst the Premiership elite and in the latter stages of the best cup competition in the world, which I think The RS will be eliminated from in the next round.
Last night was painful and one of my worst memories of derby day but we are still progressing forward. A win on Saturday puts us back into contention and we are not far away and we will have the likes of Coleman and co back fully fit soon, to aid our charge in the absence of Lukaku. It is going to be a difficult few days, yes, but let's keep positive and keep going.
Apologies for how cheesy this post is but we have to keep our heads up and not sulk and move forward.
Allez Allez oh
