Been reading this young Echo reporter's twitter timeline and it doesn't look good for the police at all.

If local residents are to be believed (and no reason to doubt after reading her TL), then they've absolutely battered a young lad - Rodney King style.

Even a strong whiff of a cover-up at play.

It all happened at 11am this morning so you will need to begin at the start of her day to get the best understanding of what went down.

If the account of what happened is correct then it is completely wrong and unjustified to do that no question about it.

My curiosity is to who the lad was and why the police would do that? There would be some motive behind it and as much as the sounds of it the police have massively stepped out of line, there will be a reason that isn't communicated out about it

police are scum? Just a wild thought

If there is a motive it still is not an excuse, it is not the police's job to hand out instant sentencing or 'street justice'

There isn't any justification no.

But

There is a reason. And that is what will get lost in all of the coverage. No-one will ask why the police did this. As this isn't a common practice then there is a reason behind it that interests me. Doesn't make up for what has happened and you hope the police are called to account for their actions and are punished accordingly. No matter what they crossed the line and that is a failure to their badge.

But always a reason

The kid is a tearaway and fully deserving of a clip around the ear for being a scoundrel?

if you mean going back and searching for a root cause, a distance between the public and the police, the social circumstances that occurred to create that situation, police funding and training methods, yes I'm interested in those reasons, but what the guy did to incur an illegal beating from the police, I've no interest in that at all
