All well at the back?

Player Valuation: £70m
First off before anyone gets a cob on I think were fairly solid at the back.

Secondly I think the Jag and Dizzer are good players individually.

But I don't think they work well as a combo and we looked a lot less solid at the back than we have ever done last season.

I think in the unlikely event that Arsenal come back with top dollar for the Jag it'd be a good move on our part to take the dosh. Watching us get the run around all second half against the cheatin submarines after constantly surrendering the ball has made me think we need a player at CB who can play the ball out of defence.

Perhaps it's Johnny or perhaps it's time to move the one time boy wonder into what's supposed to be his natural position?

One things for sure we haven't got the players at the back to play football or the players up top to play long ball.

Shakes head. Let's sell our best defender because he does not play the ball out of defence. Note the word DEFENDER.

Jagielka is more than a CB. He's a leader and a marshall. Getting rid of him would be a massive mistake in my opinion, unless we get a bid of £20 million or so. Scott Dann is £10 million and I'm fairly sure Arsene is going in for him so this hypothetical will likely remain just that.

As for a ball playing defender... er... does no one watch Distin? He likes to bomb forward on occasion but crucially he's very comfortable with the ball at his feet. Maybe he doesn't look it, as a lanky fella, but he is.

Hoofball annoys me too but we've done it for so long it can only be at Moyes' behest. If Moyes didn't like it he'd make us stop it. You've also got to have someone in midfield who's willing to collect the ball though, remember.

He can defend no doubt but his distribution is very poor. You can be the best defender in the world but if he gives it away as soon as he's won it back that can only lead to trouble

Note the name of the game he plays FOOTball

And very well he plays iit which is why we should not sell him just because he is not a player who plays the ball out of defence. So you saying we should sell Jag's due to the fact he does not play the ball out of defence. His job is to DEFEND. Hence DEFENDER.

Theres already a sell Jagielka thread lad.

Heitinga is a bad snide.

Was only suggesting selling him as one otion TBH. I dont think they make a good pair and we'll carry on leaking soft goals unless they either tighten ur or something is changed

I'm saying one otion to sort out a leaky defence is to sell him and A) Give someone else a go b) Use the dosh to get someone else in or even C) Pair him with another CB

There's no better back five in the division than Everton's imo, If Arsenal had our back four + Fellaini they'd win the league.

Got to disagree there mate. The amount of soft goals we leaked, especially at home last year was scarier than when fat pat got them out on eastenders

that was breakdown in Midfield organisation and play that caused us to leak all those goals, Jagielka and Distin were brick walls when the team was under siege.
