A victory for socialism?
Discuss.
Not really anything to 'discuss' is there ?
That football is so all-encompassing in the minds of online folk that news of a coach retiring generates far more interest than a historically-significant politician dying.
Ironically, traditional socialism would not have wanted it to be like this, whereas conservative capitalism is only too happy for the people to be more interested in distractions than politics.
I find it interesting anyway. But if no one else does, this thread can die...
To be honest i think it's got more to do with Ferguson being a current figure in society, not much more to it than that.
If Cameron died tomorrow that would generate miles more hits than Thatcher.

People all over the world follow the premier league.
I follow world politics relatively closely (closer than most at least), and my knowledge of Thatcher is still pretty much just broad strokes (Privatize everything, miners hate her etc.) I wouldn't expect your average twitterer to know that much about a political figure in a foreign country who hasn't been relevant for nearly 30 years.
This really isn't surprising, though I suppose it's an interesting factoid.
It's refreshing to see news about a 70+ year old celebrity that doesn't involve noncing kids.
