Good days to be a blue.
What's struck me is the change in Moysie. Previously, I'd have bet money on him playing a conservative game against both Chelsea and Utd - and losing both. Like the game against Man U at OT when Pienaar gave away that needless penalty at the Stretford (*spits*) End.
Somethings happened that's led him to think differently in recent times. Long may it continue. Maybe the turning point was the game at Arsenal - we came away knowing that we had the beating of them...
Are we witnessing the professional maturing of Davie?
I think the tactics may be part due to a bit of change in Moyes, but more so due to the circumstances.
a.) Has Moyes ever had such a wealth of attacking resources in mid...particularly wingers, and guys who can play anywhere across the mid?
- Our best midfield destroyer is out (Fellaini)
- We have Arteta coming back to form after a long-term injury
- We've got Pienaar, Cahill, Bily, Donovan, Osman, all playing at a high level
b.) Chelsea and ManU are surprisingly vulnerable at defense lately with Terry's mind not entirely on the pitch, Ferdinand dealing with injuries, G. Neville on the decline, etc.
We've shown in the past 5-6 games at least that we are
the on-form team in the league and can play with anyone. So, why not go on the offensive?
In years and days past, Moyes has been hand-cuffed by the resources he has at his disposal. He has always been seen to be a manager that puts together a team that works its socks off for each other, but isn't known for their flair. If you look at his personnel moves, though, he's slowly been recruiting players that add more dynamism to the team.
I think now that many of those pieces are in place, we're starting to see the more polished team that Moyes has been trying to build.
