Alan Partridge in Alpha Papa

was OK, wasn't expecting it to be great though, but had to watch it. The funniest part was when he slapped the guy in the face with his glove whilst doing a hitler impression

Don't understand the criticism.

I'm a Partridge fan and I thought it was as good as a Partridge film could have been. Went back to see it for a second time with some mates and still laughed more than during any other film I've seen in the past 5 years.

Wasn't a huge fan of his before I went in, but seemed like a relatively seamless transition from tv to cinema to me. Laughed pretty much all the way through.

That should not be glossed over. It's incredibly difficult to translate a 20-30 minute TV show into a feature film, especially when it's a comedy -- as it's obviously a lot more difficult to keep people laughing for an hour and a half.

Many shows have failed in this regard, it was pleasing to see that this film seems to have learnt from the mistakes. It kept it relatively small scale and stuck with what it knows and it works.

That's what I think I need to do mate.

I went in with huge expectations. Impossible to live up to.

I think I'd like it more 2nd time round.

Nowhere near season one or two of I'm Alan Partridge mate.

Which is fine, as the character has evolved a lot since then.

That's a key point I think mate. It has a different feel to 'I'm Alan Partridge' and to me, that's absolutely fine. Judged as another event in the fictional career of Alan, it's pretty great. But judged alongside past things, it might boil down to preference.

I think it's certainly the most approachable thing Coogan's done with the character. A few of my mates had never seen any Partridge (and one didn't like what he had seen, the bad meff) but they all really enjoyed the film.

Re-watched the last 15, from approximately where they're in the big van broadcasting and Alan tries to escape.
