Al-Madinah School Set For Special Measures

Exactly - all religions that I can think of rely on "faith" in a god, afterlife, or whatever without any proof that either exists - therefore it should be taught if at all under "fairy stories" ......imo of course; whatever individuals believe is their own personal right and it does give some people who do believe in a god some comfort and strength. However, even so called christian faiths cannot agree with each other ie catholics, protestants (sub divided again into baptists, methodists etc) people were tortured and killed in the name of religion and christianity is one of the biggest offenders - if you know your history

I'm a firm secularist; I think it SHOULD be taught in schools, but only a brief overview before detailing what it has actually caused throughout history - e.g. utter mayhem for no reason, which you've just mentioned yourself.

If parents want to teach their kids about religion and faith, then they should do that themselves. It should not be the job of the state to indoctrinate kids.

It exists but is beyond the pale.

Not sure what you mean by the fascist reference if I'm honest!

If the right to homeschool did not exist by fiat and enforcement (which is to say, if the offending parents did not comply and place their offspring into state schools, the parents might be imprisoned at worst, and the offspring would removed from the household and placed with another family or institutionalized to facilitate state indoctr.. oops, education.)

Now, do you not understand what I mean by the fascist reference? How does one enforce this, except by shunning - being beyond the pale. Peel the onion. Very shallow thinking reflected in all this here. Go deeper. What will the state do to protect their education industry?

But it's perfectly legal in the UK. People just choose not to do it, by and large. The only state control is to ensure the child is receiving some form of education, which isn't fascism, it's simply common sense as it's child protection basically.

Think the law is fine myself.

My kids school seems to do R.E. more than the 2 church schools here do ( RC & CofE) I was told that it's because if they teach it then they have to cover all Religions & Cultures, something that the faith schools are reluctant to do as they'd rather stick with their own brand of brainwashing on a sunday morning.

I went to a faith school and did RE from year 7-11. Not once were we told what to believe.

This was also my experience of attending a faith school. We learned about all religions, and not in an "Oh, look what the heathens believe" way, either. Neither were we taught creationism as science.

The most ridiculous argument I've ever heard. What's going on there isn't in the name of Christianity. And most of them are greatful we are involved even if it is for a lot of self serving reasons.

A) I'm not arguing with anybody

B)Are you seriously trying to say that Muslim people would agree that Islam is more of a threat than Christianity in a Muslim country under attack from western forces?

C)When you say most of them want us there, where do you get your information from? i'd be absolutely astonished if that was the case.

D) CHRIST ALMIGHTY

You're right mate. They all loved saddam Husain in Iraq and afghanis all love the Taliban.

Jeez stop stereotyping Muslims mate.
