African Team, Asian Team, North American Team or Oceanian Team: Who will win the World Cup first?

African team. They have more good teams. North America has two teams with a legitimate chance (unless you include Central American teams).

Yeah, this is where I'm going.

Looking at who is the best now is missing the point, noone outside europe or south america is good enough to win it now.

But if a big rich country like China or the States starts taking it seriously, they'd have a real shot at it. The americans have the advantage in build and sporting background but china has less sporting competition and more state funded sporting resources so it can go either way.

The Africans are held back by their poverty and corruption, it would make a massive massive shift in world politics for them to produce a winner.

Either African or Asian. Honestly don't rate USA, which I think is the best Nort American team, at all.

Can't see an Oceanian team win ever.

North American.

Either Mexico or the United States.

Rising MLS fortunes will help Liga MX too through increased competition. It's good for both countries, and the club academies that produce the World Cup winning talent.

Massive cultural shift to get a grassroots football program built. Not to mention the poverty and political hurdles. Much more extensive work required even than in the US (which has a big soccer program, but it's behind baseball, basketball, and American football in prominence). Not that it can't happen, but it's a huge gap.

Asian. Japan and South Korea are quality, plus as others have mentioned a gene pool of 1 billion should give China an unassailable edge
