Player Valuation: £100m
The tournament gets started tomorrow. My guess at a few of the better sides:

Senegal: I think the most talented squad and obviously they have Gana so a team I'll support. At the World Cup they basically played 4-2-4 so hopefully they are still doing that because it was absolutely mad.

Morocco: A lot of reasonably good attackers with no real system to string them together. Solid team nonetheless. Part of me wants to see Ziyech do well the other part wants him to struggle so the blues can sign him.

Egypt: Unfortunately they are both hosting and have the best player in Salah. I'm guessing they're the favorites.

Nigeria: Always one of the better teams in Africa but maybe not as good as past versions. Obi Mikel is apparently still playing football and captains them. Just get Henry on so we can get a permit FFS.

Algeria: Missed the World Cup last year but Mahrez, Brahimi, Ounas and Fegouhli are a seriously impressive set of wingers. Not sure if they have the rest of the team to match but should be an entertaining side.

Ivory Coast: Similar to Algeria in that they are just loaded with wing talent. Pepe should be the main man but they also have Zaha, Cornet and Gradel as options. That Seri who everyone thought was going to Barca because he passed a lot in the French league but stunk at Fulham will probably try to run the midfield.

Cameroon: As best I can tell, Onana and Bounou from Morocco are the only two GKs playing regular for a half decent European side. Aside from that Choupo-Moting might be there best player so not exactly the same as when Eto'o was the main man.

If you read that thanks and I'm going to go for Senegal to win it over Egypt in the final with Gana getting away with a snide stamp on Salah before slotting the winner.

Egypt are my favourites but Senegal (seriously good side) and Morocco ( a balanced side with good footballers everywhere and Herve Renard’s record as manager is huge) are the big threats

That’s my opinion

Might be time to start courting offers for Henry. He doesn't get a cap today and this Nigeria team isn't making the semi-finals playing like this.

Put on a few minutes of the Nigeria match earlier and was quickly reminded of my hated for that famed musical instrument, the vuvuzela, FFS.

Morocco absolutely spawning 3 points there. Needed with the upcoming teams in the group. They were pretty decent but poor in the final third. Boufal would be some player if he could do anything other than dribble.

They dominated to be fair.....there was only one team trying to win and the other team parking the bus.

Cruel but a fair result but Morocco will have to improve in the final third if they are to go deep.

Senegal doing well though

I'm interested to see if Mali give any time to Sekou Koita tomorrow who also played in the u20 World Cup this summer and was excellent scoring 3 times and lighting up the game against a strong France side. It's rare for a player to go from youth tournament to full international in one summer so I'm intrigued to see if he handles playing open age football well.
