So Richmond, West Coast Eagles, Collingwood, Hawthorn, Melbourne Demons, Sydney Swans, Greater Western Sydney Giants and Geelong, are the 8 teams that got through to the knockout stages. Here is how the fixtures have been drawn.

Qualifying finals Qualifying Final 1: Thursday, 6 September (7:20 pm)Richmond vs.Hawthorn Qualifying Final 2: Saturday, 8 September (6:10 pm)West Coast vs.Collingwood

Elimination finals Elimation Final 1: Friday, 7 September (7:50 pm)Melbourne vs.Geelong Elimation Final 2: Saturday, 8 September (4:20 pm)Sydney vs.Greater Western Sydney

So basically the top 4 in the ladder qualify for the qualifying final. The winners of the qualifying final, go through to the prelim final. The winners of the prelim final, then go through to the grand final. The losers of the qualifying final, play the winners of the elimination final.Whoever loses the elimation final is knocked out.Whoever then wins the semi final between the losers of the qualifying final, and the winners of the elimation final, then go through to the prelim final.I hope all of this makes sense!Melbourne Demons would be my favourite AFL side, so obviously i hope they go all the way.

I think the real surprise packet of the year is Collingwood.Nathan Buckley did seem to be taking them backwards, but he got a 2 year extension to his contract, at the end of last season. Now he has them back in the finals.Mind you Collingwood are kind of like the aussie rules version, of the rs and the geordies.lol But yeah, it should be a good finals series.

Really is Richmonds flag to lose. Clearly stand out team all season and likely to play every final at the ‘G.
WCE - tipped to bottom out this year but a big surprise packet but will they be able to overcome the loss of their 2 best players NicNat and Gaff home ground advantage for finals a plus but record at the MCG leaves a lot to be desired
Collingwood- an injury list to make your eyes bleed but still getting it done. Favourable draw and poor record against other top 8 teams make for maybe a skewed ladde position but bucks has them playing well so you never know.
Hawthorn- funnily enough a quite inexperienced 22 lately but obviously still some very experienced big game players. Probably the team no one wants to play, have hit a purple patch of form at the end of the season abut reminiscent of ‘08 maybe but I think maybe to inexperienced to win it this year
* I’m a hawthorn supporter so maybe take my opinion with a pinch of salt
Geelong- My dark horse of the greatest midfield in the history of midfields ever to midfield can figure it out they defiantly have the weapons to take it up to anyone.

You must be a dockers fan.:)
Swans actually, but don’t really follow it.
I used to live near Sydney when I first came to Aus, and they had Tony Lockett playing for them at the time, so was an easy choice (despite wearing red).
I went to an Eagles game when I first moved to Perth, and couldn’t believe how little passion there was, the crowd was mainly a bunch of pensioners being very polite. No noise other than polite clapping when they scored. I have disliked them ever since

Yeah West Coast Eagles are a very phoney/artificial club.Their theme song is awful as well!

So Melbourne are going to Perth to play West Coast Eagles, and Richmond v Collingwood is the other prelim final. It's going to be a tough ask, beating the Eagles in Perth, but you never know.Really the way i see it, i'd love for it to be a Melbourne v Collingwood grand final, for the sense of history and tradition.Collingwood are historically the Demons biggest rivals, and Collingwood would not be as tough an opponent as Richmond.Im just really looking forward to the prelim finals now.
