I was close to breaking a few years ago working, horrible commute to a job of ppl I hated, hardly any work. 12-14 hours a day away from my young kids....heart breaking.

Left to set up on my own....first 12 months just as bad...close to jacking it in to get a job again.
I've been there. It's terrible. You have to look after yourself too, no matter how hard it can be. Hope that Mrs Pabbers and the Pabberites appreciate you.

Cheers mate.

You are spot on. An ill/washed out version of me or is is not a good dad or husband, and its just not healthy for us.

Luckily, 2 years on now and im happier than ever. Work life balance has to be right.

I rented an office facing my house....don't work fridays, and just about to employ part time staff.

If you’re working too much to make money that you cant spend with your loved ones, you are doing it wrong and all the money in the world wont replace that time lost with family.

Been there, done that and the last couple of years till my state pension pays out alongside my military one, and private pensions (2 of them) I have paid into for about a million years, cant come quick enough, although the added years till my state pension pays out rankles with me.
Hang in there mate, the next 50 years or so will fly by...

Is there anything to be said for taking a strong laxative, wait a while and once it starts flowing run through the factory bare arsed sh1t going everywhere singing Rule Britannia while holding a garden gnome in one hand and a Uganda flag in the other? If that won't sort things out, then I'm all out of ideas.

Will a payrise really be enough to keep you happy there? By the sounds of it, I doubt it. Every job has a natural cycle.

It sounds to me like you're well able to do something a bit more challenging and rewarding. Save up a few months of living expenses (might be difficult I know) but look for a new job. You might be able to progress within your current employer, but I wouldn't bank on that route either. You're young and prepared to roll your sleeves up; you'll be just fine.
