Ok guys hope I make sense here. I'm after moving my electric meter and gas meter to the outside of my wall. Currently they are both in the front room on the wall. What I want is to have them moved on the other side of the wall so they are on the outside of my property. They will be moving less than a metre like I say just on the other side of the wall so they are on the outside of the property. However who do I contact for this to be done as I'm being given the run around. British gas my supplier say contact north west electric they say its not them so on and so on. Has anybody had this done or does anybody work in this field that can advise. I know a electrician can't do it.
Thanks I advance.

Thanks bluebud I went down this road for the gas and they told me that I would have to do the digging outside my house to the pipes myself. WHAT!!!! I live on a main road and they wanted me to dig down to the gas pipes myself. This does not sound right and I'm sure I've been given some mis information here. Then they said if I did this they will move the metre for £1600. Again this does not sound right.

Don't sound right to me, they want you to did up pavements and stuff that belong to the council?

Where do you want the meters to go mate?

On the outside of my property in side a box. They are currently on the wall in my front room and are in the way so I just want them on the other side of the wall but they will be outside. Hope I'm making sense.

Am I right in thinking you're moving them from the box on the wall outside to inside mate? That shouldn't be a problem

Yeah just reading more on the website you posted it seems you are no longer allowed to do the digging yourself as of December 2012 however I only rang up about a month ago so definitely been given some mis information here, cheers.

No mate plus from reading up they need to be quite low down in the property and the further I move them the more it cost due to the amount of pipe they would need. Moving them on to the other side of the wall to the outside of the property would require hardly no pipe so price should be lower

I moved mine 18ft up mate to the airing cupboard, I find because the meters are warmer up there they are a lot more efficient, have you heard that at all? What you spend in piping will be offset by the savings you make because of the efficiency levels.

The savings are offset again though in doing this, cause the provider have to invest in a bigger pump to pump the stuff higher up. You'll not get a bill straight away, it'll take a while for them to rationalise it all. You can pay by credit card though, so you should be ok.

Cheers mate something to think about did not know you could do that.
