Adriano's contract cancelled

A very talented player (on his day) who supposedly hates football, not what we need.

He'd be a worse version of Van der Meyde here.

I imagine the cancellation of his contract involves not being able to play in europe for a lengthy time anyway.

From what I've read he's taking a break from football entirely, and if he ever played again it would only ever be for his hometown club.

Brazil and Inter Milan striker Adriano is to take a break from football and "rethink his career".

"I've lost the happiness of playing," he told reporters on Thursday. "I wouldn't like to go back to Italy, I want to live in peace here in Brazil."

Adriano, 27, said he could not say how long he would stay away from the game.

"I don't know if I'm going to stay for one, two or three months without playing," said the former Flamengo star. "I'm going to rethink my career."

Adriano, whose contract with Inter runs until June 2010, also denied media reports of possible illness or addiction problems.

"I am not sick, alcoholic or a drug user," he said. "Everything I did was well thought out. I talked to my family, my friends and my agent, and I am doing this with my happiness in mind"

"I have nothing against Inter, I did not like living in Italy. I felt pressured. A lot of people will not understand. It is a bad situation, not easy at all, but it is a choice."

Asked whether he could appear with a Brazilian club, Adriano said the only possibility would be Flamengo.

"If I play in Brazil, it will be for Flamengo. Otherwise, my grandmother would kill me," he joked.

Adriano failed to return to Italy after last week's World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Peru, in which he was an unused substitute.

If Jose cant be bothered to sort him out, hes beyond help. Sad, im sure he will start playing for a team in Brazil.
Jose couldn't be arsed with Mutu and he's doing alright at Fiorentina so I woudn't use the special one as a guage in these issues.
Having said that, he makes VDM look like a model pro

its not the cost of players its the cost of paying him each week..90k? i wouldnt go near him. where is the evidence he would be worth that in the prem?

Jags went down today like a sack of spuds, the last thing we need is to sign a forward who is bigger than another sack of spuds.

Flamengo.

Taps nose.

Its a gift, what can I say.

Flamengo have reached an agreement to sign troubled striker Adriano, less than a month after the former Inter Milan player said he had lost his appetite for the game, according to the club.

Adriano's agent said no deal had been reached, but Flamengo Club president Delair Dumbrosck insisted that the move was all-but-complete.

"He is 99 per cent a Flamengo player," he said. "We have to look for a partner to help with the budget.

"Adriano knows about everything, so does his agent, and we are awaiting his presence at Gavea (the club's headquarters)."
