I agree that players shouldn't play for adopted countries out of convenience or because they can't make their own country's team though. Look at some of the ex pats in the rugby team, Tom Waldrom for example, that's not on.

England had a foreign manager once so what all the fuss. The kid seems to have an ego, got international teams and clubs fighting over him. He only 18 and ran his contract down to put himself in control. Will Man u pay over the odds wages to keep him like the rs did with Sterling. Now he deciding whether he should accept an invitation to play for Belgium? crazy.

Just thinking about it then does it mean that all the Polish, Pakistanis and Albanians etc that live here can get an English passport after 5 years or do we pick and choose who we give it to?

Of course we'd pick and choose. First, thats what most other countries in the world do and second, why should Polish Tomasz whose on the dole with no discernible skills who sits in spoons day and night groping women get a passport and Adnan here shouldn't? Whoever benefits the country gets to stay.

*polish Tomasz is very real

It's his position to do so.
Seems like he has a good head on him really.
His value will show, and he's let his contract run down patiently to the point where United have to make him a 1st team player (possibly prematurely) to show commitment to him, get him to agree to not run off to another club.

The more I think about this,

Greg Dykes jobs is to try and get the English national team to win football matches

If poaching players from Kosovo will help with that, then it's within his job remitt to do it

Not saying I agree with it but I fully understand the logic behind it
