Player Valuation: £100m
5 players into the squad in Jan and summer and we see a major difference with pace/power. I'd guess approximate cost 25mil for Butland / Van Dijk and Deulofeu with Schar on a free and Adama on loan. These signings are realistic and achievable.

Keeper -- Butland 21 / Robles 24
Left Back -- Garbutt 21 / Oviedo 24
Centre Back -- Van Dijk 23 / Schar 23
Centre Back -- Stones 20 /Browning 20
Right Back -- Coleman 26 / Kenny 17
Centre Mid -- Besic 22 / Barry 33
Centre Mid -- McCarthy 24 / Ledson 17
Attacking Mid -- Barkley 21 / Naismith 28
Left Wing -- Mirallas 27 / ??
Right Wing -- Deulofeu 20 / Adama 18
Forward -- Lukaku 21 / Eto'o 33 / ??

.....................................Butland 21

Coleman 26......Stones 20............Van Dijk 23....Garbutt 21

....................McCarthy 24...........Besic 22

Deulofeu 20.................Barkley 21....................Mirallas 27

..................................Lukaku 21

What this means is that Martinez needs to make some decisions here to shake up the squad and create the space and money for wages and transfer fees;

Howard -- MLS Money
Hibbert
Alcaraz
Distin
Jagielka --8mil
Baines - 12mil
Gibson
Pienaar
Osman
McGeady - 3-5mil
Kone - 3mil

It seems totally pointless to gradually phase out these players when we are losing games anyway. Martinez can ship them off ASAP with replacements coming in to improve us.

Not only that, but this is self funding so the television money would allow him to go and make another top signing like a Bony to alternate with Lukaku or bring in more Galloways / Stones for the future.

If he doesn't do this now then he's made a rod for his own back. So adios to these 11 or in the end adios to him.

I seriously doubt the board will give any money to Martinez in January and rightly so, he was backed in 12 months more than what Moyes had for 12 years and he looks clueless so far, he has 6 months to save his job and he has to do it with the players he bought or/and renewed their contracts

Have you been on the eggnog mate? 8 million pounds for Jagielka now? 12 million is a push for Baines. We wont get 3 pence for Kone until he gets 12 months of football into him, and then he's out the door anyway. The punchline to the above is getting Bony in to alternate with Lukaku.

Alright, lets just say Martinez axes the lot. Then what? Promote the youth players you suggest, and if they struggle for form? Get injuries? Dont make the grade? Ask yourself the following, has any side in top flight history ever made so many changes in the one go you are suggesting (I highlight changes by choice!)

How has he been backed? By spending revenue from TV income?

The board should be giving him 20-30 mil per season off tv revenue alone + he should be allowed to wheel and deal as he sees fit.

Or why hire him at all.

A-- 25 mil for the lot of them should be achievable over the course of contracts etc. Im sure a few sides would pay upnfor baones and jags, two current internationals.

B-- Theres two players for every position there. Add a loan or two if needs be.

C-- Bony or someone for 20mil should be the case every season. On tv money we should have thst amount to spend each year.

I also dont think punting:

Gibson
Alcaraz
McGeady
Pienaar
Osman

In Jan would make a difference as they dont play. Baines can go otherwise we may even lose garbutt in summer and jagielka needs replacing with a better ball player like van dijk.

'Should', lets not mess about, if 'should' was working we'd have won a lot more games. You seem to be suggesting that cutting so many players is great because by not paying them we'll save up £25millions worth of wages. Perhaps. So Baines and Jagielka will get fees now, So McGeady and Kone were just pish takes?

Furthermore, we aint getting any prized CB assets anytime soon, there are far too many regular CL sides and huge wage payers in the market for just such types. NFW ! (No Frigging Way !)

What if the youth players you have named dont make the grade, or get injured or encounter a patch of form like the hardened internationals and former internationals we have in the starting eleven are now?

'Bony or someone'. Good heavens.

This is presuming any club would want those players which I doubt. We are stuck with a few of them because RM gave them contract extensions guaranteeing them big pay packets for a long while, dubious deciions on his part.

As well as presuming all those same other clubs don't realise they are getting increased TV money as well. (The real issue being, every agent on earth knows it and is in the process of finding ways to screw clubs for extra wages).

Honestly don't think this is a case of personnel - were essentially the same squad as last year, albeit without Deulofeu's creativity and directness (and that's definitely being hugely missed - I think they took a gamble in Atsu that hasn't paid off).

Of course, any squad can and should endeavour to be stronger at the end of a transfer window, but I find it difficult not to see this as a coaching issue when the performances are so markedly worse than last season with almost exactly the same starting 11. It's telling to think the same everton team of Dec 2013 would absolutely smash this current one. And it's effectively the same players.
