Damn. The Beastie Boys were a HUGE part of my musical life in my teens. I was the first person in my high school to buy Licensed to Ill. Very, very sad.

he gave it his best shot ................................................................bulls-eye...anyway- danny should have an amnesty on swearing in his honour

WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAT?!!!!!

****!

I've been listening to Solid Gold Hits and Hot Sauce Commitee non-stop all week too.

****.

RIP.

Very few albums have every truly blown my mind, but Paul's Boutique was one of those albums.

He'd had cancer for a while now.

I'm devastated personally. I loved the Beasties and MCA was always my favourite.

RIP.

I was 16 when Licensed to Ill was released. Hard to believe it's been 26 years.

We're right about the same age. I still remember going to Peaches Records to buy that cassette, and vividly remember the drive home, and almost losing my mind. Obviously it's juvenile lyrically compared to the rest of their stuff, but at the time, and at that age, it was like they were from another planet. I was into rap pretty heavily then, but also into rock, and punk, and all sorts of stuff, and they basically incorporated every single influence into their music (they were actually a hardcore punk band first).

The Beastie Boys were, and will always be one of kind.
