Those penalty decisions:

Barca 1st pen: if that challenge on the 'protected species' AKA Messi was a pen, then the same challenge from behind on Ibrahimovic on the same spot second half was a pen all day long.

Barca 2nd pen: Nesta has a grip of the back of Busquet's shirt; Busquets has a grip of the front of Nesta's; Puyol wrestles Nesta to the floor...all in the one movement. Any other day of the week that's whistled by the ref as a free kick to the defending team. No ifs or buts.

There were two legitimate goals in that game: Iniesta's and Nocerino's.

Dave I agree with you totally about the second. It's a foul by Puyol in my book. But the first was defo a peno. He slid in and took his foot from under him. But the second pen changed the game and it was a scandolous decision. I was watching it with a couple of Barça supporting mates and they think it was a bad decision

Certainly think UEFA are rubbing their hands together thinking of the money they'll make on a Madrid v Barça final.

First pen was OK, 2nd was bogus. Believe it or not sometimes our analysts here in the US get it right. Wyanalda noted that once you put your hand up to the ref before the corner that's pretty much a message that no matter what you are going to ground (see: Gerrard, Steven). The ball was no where near Busquets. It was a horrible pen. If that was a pen than AC should have had one against Ibra after he was pushed to the ground in the box.

I agree. That was the point I was making: that and the foul on Ibrahimovic by Mascherano were identical and cancel each other out.

The second pen was a scandal and I have the impression that the ref and assistants in the first leg were wrong to fail to give Barca a pen at the San Siro and that was evened up by the officials last night.. Still a very poor decision though. They have some very good fortune along the way as well as being a great team Barcleona.

Agree with you Jamo: Madrid v Barca would be the dream final for UEFA...mind you, so would Barca v the club who's stadium hosts the final!
