...little concerned with Barcelona's exit from the Champions League yesterday. They're sure to be looking for a new boss. Alan Brazil mentioned what I was thinking about Martinez being a possible but this was quickly discounted by a so called 'expert' who reckons RM isn't in the frame because they will want somebody with previous links to the club.

wouldnt worry if i were you

You perfectly described Harry Catterick's Holy Trinity 1969 - 70. The Cat was light years ahead of his time and Bally was the hub at the centre. But Howie Kendall was the brains on the pitch that made us so fluid in attack and so hard to score against.

I think it will be exciting seeing us in Europe next season with the way we play. Will be a tough draw for a lot of teams.

Lukakus been the biggest difference for me really. DM had teams with a lot of width and attacking possession but built penetrative attacking moves around a forward midfielder and had a hard time finding goals.

We finished last season on 63 points that included 15 draws. I feel that bobby looked at that result, figured that a top class striker would, over the course of the season, make the difference of about 10 points and put us in the running for a CL spot. Yeah 5m is a lot for one seasons worth of services but it was worth it.

Don't get me wrong, there's a lot about moyes that I didn't and im gkad hes gone like but I feel that bobby inherited a great team of footballers. Bobby just simply gave them the encouragement they needed and put a cherry up top for them to play through; something that was apparently beyond DM.
