A question Moyes needs to consider strongly.

WHO THE HELL IS COACHING OUR DEFENCE?

Today, without doubt, was a very good game of football from both sides, but defensively, and I'm sorry to say it, we were utter [Poor language removed] once again.

Our handling of situations outside and around our box was shocking yet again, and this is not something that can be put down as mistakes anymore.

Infact I'm convinced that our players are being coached to 'back off' oncoming attackers, because for God only knows that is the exact thing we have been doing all season, and not just individually, but as a unit.

It has cost us dearly this season, with the largest leakage of goals that I can remember for a long time, and the majority of those have come from not stamping our authority onto oncoming threats.

I can't believe that Moyes thinks we can give players with the quality found in the Premiership, and indeed Europe, the amount of time and space in and around our box, and not be punished heavily.

I find it amusing to watch Moyes covering his face in anguish as another chance slips by from our attack, and not realise that 40,000 Everton fans are doing exactly the same, week in, week out, at the way we are defending our area.

This is not Scotland Davey.

This is the Prem, and the sooner you get it into your head that your way, or your coaches way, or whoever is damn responsible for the shocking defensive tactics our team are being taught to use the better.

It has been suggested by former players that Moyes style of coaching is to concentrate 100% on our defensive tactics.

All I can say is that if this is really the case, then please bring somebody in who actually knows how to defend, because your coaching skills are beginning to test my patience, and that of many other fans too.

Get help, and clear out the dead wood that is our coaching department, and bring in some experience for once.

Incorrect, the question is : how much can we make from the sale of yobo and distin? We have Jags and Jonny, ideal pairing, Duffy as back up, neville, Hibbert and rodwell can cover if need be!

So why did we win so many games 1-0 a few seasons back? Why did we keep so many clean sheets last season?

Personel thats why. I'm not with you on this one BB, don't think its the coaching as such rather more the actual defenders on the pitch.

A decent settled regular defense will play much better than a irregular, mix and match defense. Notice how much better we were defensively second half today compared to first, all to do with Heitinga being in front of the defense.

Yes we didn't seem to make many tackles first half or press much and that was dissapointing but was more due to the players playing than defensive coaching.

Hayee, it's not the players so much, but the way the defensive unit are backing off.
This can only be a coaching issue, and not an individual one.

lol love the reaction around here after every match.
Agree with BB to some extend. Let's not forget our offensive tactics, it will be a longer post than this.

i get what you mean. Its obviously something they do in training, or something they fail to cover. Either way it needs sorting!

Anyone who watches our matches can clearly see the space offered to oncoming attack, be it Chelsea, Burnley, or today Spurs.
You don't back pedal into your area. You challenge the threat before the player either has the chance to shoot, or before he can be brought down inside the box.

Jags did the same thing, and you could clearly see 3 defenders back pedalling together before a shot was saved. I'm not concerned if you don't agree, but it's time it was discussed as a seperate issue, because I'm not imagining things here, nor are thousands of other fans.

I think we are backing off to try and congest the space to stop the other team scoring.

Apart from Hetty, Jags and Duffy I think the other CBs are a waste of space, hardly skilful, and lacking in pace onyl good for emergency cover. need to return Senderos when Loan is up and sell either Distin or Yobo, preferably thel atter cos' he keeps going off for the ANC.

Should also statt dumping Neville and playing Coleman, make Jags the Captain.
