Another way to get to the solution would be:

3=X where (X/3)*3=X

So with the information given:

9=90 = (90/9)*9=90
8=72 = (72/8)*8=72
7=56 = (56/7)*7=56

Etc.

Wouldn't it be:

X*(X+1)=Y

Which is basically what I did on my first answer...without it explained as an equation.
