Thought today's milestone achievement of Tony McCoy in riding 4000 National Hunt winners is worthy of a thread. To be the top in any sport is some feat, but to be No1 in a perilous game like his for so long is something else. Hats off to Tony McCoy.

I really struggle to get interested in horse racing. Find it dull as ditch water, but jump jockies are the bravest sportsmen around imo. 4000 races is pretty good, but 4000 winners is something to be proud of.

To actually put that into context.. Richard Johnson would be classed as one of the all time greats and a multiple champion if it wasn't for AP..
The only comparable champion in my time is Phil Taylor ( don't Chico.. ) and AP is in a different world to him.. Many nights in hospital, how many seconds ?
Even today.. If you look at the ride he gave his 4000th winner.. No one else would have got that up on the line..

According to the BBC, his race weight is 10st 5lbs. With a natural weight of around 12 stone that is some serious physical discipline

I have no interest in horse racing but this achievement is crazy. Read his manager (i think) bought everyone a drink at the racecourse too.
