A (long) look through the Transfer Window...

Was a funny old window.

The positives were the early signings who were all spot on really.

Not signing players we clearly needed kinda made the season much more difficult than it should have been with a centre forward allowing more from existing attackers.

However with pickford Keane and siggurdson we have added 3 major improvements into the first 11 that we were lacking so that is the real positive here.

Heard it all before , but we duplicated places all over the midfield- leaving us with no goalscorer, and no cover st left back - not only that we let young player on loan that could have covered - our under 23 side decimated what the hell is RK up to????
Alledgedly playing golf on deadline day he needs binning if we flop these are his descions!
Get a hard manager and board member in now!
EFC have gone soft!
Letting Connolly go seems really strange surely worth keeping to cover for Baines

On a somewhat related note (but not really) I've just practically bumped into Contract Dave in Ormskirk on my way to the gym lol he was with his two young lads heading towards the Subway. I only got on to the fact that it was him at the last second and i opened my mouth to say something and i flapped it  I reckon he well got onto the fact that I recognised him.

Second time I've been starstruck in that part of Ormskirk, walked straight past Bellew coming out of the Costa Coffee by the clock tower a few days before his fight with Haye.

Suffice to say I don't agree.

We signed two players we needed in Pickford and Keane.

Then a mix (mess?) of players with no clear place for them in the team and no thought as to how they'll be on the field at the same time. We've got too many of some type of players and none of the others.

Fine sign Klaassen OR Sigurdsson - but why both?

Fine sign Rooney but get another striker to play in front of him.

Fine sign Sandro but play him alongside a focal point.

It's like they wanted to make a fry up but just got 12 eggs. Eggs are fine but that isn't a fry up.
Exactly my thoughts. We are completely stockpiled in two positions and pretty weak in all others.

I still think we should of signed Harry Maguire he's smashing it again already this season a lot neutrals think he should be starting tonight for England
It's been mentioned before but he looks good at teams that stay compact. Leicester and Hull both allow(ed) his lack of pace to be an after thought as they don't get countered on very much. With us he would be shown up as the mediocre player he is imo.

If DCL comes of age in the CF role and we get lucky at the back with injuries, then it'll have been a great window.

If we continue to struggle for goals and Keane gets injured then it'll have been a poor window.

Let's wait and see.

I feel like the squad has improved, but really did hope that our early dealings would be a sign that our past transfer bumblings were behind us and we'd get on and provide Koeman with the players he wanted, but we petered out towards the end. It leaves an impression that whilst we've improved, I'm not sure we've realistically improved by enough to move up in the league. We've seen in the past the kind of investment required by the likes of Chelsea and City to close that gap and turn themselves into regular CL clubs, and I'm not sure we've done that.

He does lack pace that's his only weekness from i can see i watched him a lot last season don't let his looks fool you he has great composure on the ball and can play Spurs were heavily linked with him this Summer so can't be that bad he would be a massive step up from Williams and Mori but i suppose that isn't saying much haha

Oh I don't doubt his composure or technical ability at all. My feeling is just that he wouldn't suit our style of play but he suits Leicester's down to the ground. I know many might disagree but I'm excited for when Funes returns to see how he partners Keane.

Very impressed with Pickford and Keane, could form our backbone for many years, rooney(scandal excepted)has been fine, hopefully Ramirez will come good, samewith klaasen although he is the one who has worried me so far,i haven't seen anything that would make him worth that type of dough, prove me wrong Davy and I'll be made up!!
