What a hard act to follow from Tommy Lawton on being transferred he got on a Liverpool bus, being recognised he thought he would get a welcome of platitudes when the bus conductor just told him straight " You will never be as good as as Dixie mate" Lawton realised he would have to be careful with his ego as he proved to be a great EFC centre forward!I think Dean and Lawton actually played a few games up front together late on in Dixie's career,imagine that!!
