For four consecutive seasons, one of the finalists contesting the FA Cup Final have faced Middlesbrough in a previous round.

Coupled with the fact that Phil Neville has played 3 semi's with Utd and has never been on the losing side. Howzat for an omen?

Funny, all the Sky pundits picked Everton, but that maybe a negative omen.

Well Tocky'.

In season 2004/05, the finalists were Arsenal & Man.Utd (Arsenal won on penalties) -- Man Utd faced Boro' in the 4th round.

In season 2005/06, the finalists were L/pool & West Ham (the Tinmen won on penalties) -- West Ham faced Boro' in the semi-final.

In season 2006/07, the finalists were Chelsea & Man Utd (Chelsea won 1-0) -- Man Utd won Boro' in a quarter-final replay.

In season 2007/08, the finalists were Cardiff & Portsmouth (Portsmouth won 0-1) -- Cardiff won Boro' in the quarter-final 0-2.

So yes, you are spot-on mate -- if we get to the final -- we're already beaten.

Omens !?! Omens stink.

Not a cricket fan but apparently:

“Moyes would have hoped to avoid Sir Alex Ferguson’s team, who are on course for an unprecedented quadruple, but he may be comforted by the knowledge that on the five previous occasions Everton have won the FA Cup - in 1906, 1933, 1966, 1984 and 1995 - the West Indies cricket team have toured England. West Indies are due to play two Test matches in May.”

A better omen is the fourteen years thing. 1970 we were champions and had to wait until 1984 for our next trophy.

1995 - 2009 do the math.

Omens snowmens..

In the build up for the 1974 FA cup final it was repeated ad nauseum that no team playing in stripes had ever lost a cup final - the clincher being the staggeringly unlikely triumph of 2nd division Sunderland over unbeatable Leeds the year before. And the implication being that Newscastle Utd simply had to turn up to win.

The expression used by commentator David Coleman to describe what happened to the barcodes defence was "stripped naked". "Stripped naked and gang banged" might have been closer to the mark.

Never could understand how they were so happy to have 'Little Kev' managing them. Twice.

But looking on the bright side: Sunderland eh? Miracles do happen.

One thing i am certain of, Manchester United will slip up in one of the remaining trophies they are still hoping to win. Hopefully they will clinch the League title and equal the RS record, but they will not win both the FA Cup and Champions League so hopefully tomorrow is were they will fail. I see no reason why we cannot defeat them at Wembley, we only lost 1-0 at Old Trafford and that was a controversial penalty and also was refused a stone waller ourselves. We also should have beaten them at Goodison after coming from a goal down in what was a poor first half for us. We battered them second half and even SAF admitted they where lucky to avoid defeat. COYB.
