A cool article on the Echo's Facebook Re: Goodison Atmosphere

Some not so obvious ones we had some weirdly aggressive games against Luton for a few mid 80s years. Also that Oldham cup tie was mental.
cup semi final at villa park 1985. Pitch battles going on as I arrived . great game though.

We need that atmosphere at every home game. Bit of a tangent but look at the Seahawks in NFL. A vociferous crowd as you'll ever find and it helps. Too many folk turning up just to have a grumble out of habit.

Never going to happen we are a reactive bunch so just enjoy it when the perfect storm arrives every so often, there is no place like it.

Yes, everyone hated Luton in the mid 80s.

Plastic pitch...banning away fans...identity cards for their own fans.....their chairman David Evans acting as Thatcher's point man in her anti football crusade.

There was lots to hate about the Hatters back then and it made for a tasty atmosphere.

Added to that we had the Billy Hamilton gial which cost us so dearly

The wheel turned full circle thirty years later when they were widely regarded as being harshly deducted points which led to the being relegated out the football league and I for one was delighted when they won promotion last season of thecseason before.

although it was at anfield the 1999 derby was pretty tasty lol if it was at goodison i think it would have led to a full scale riot!!

The game against Fiorentina was insane, never known an atmosphere like it, stood in the Lower Glad the whole match, I remember the gargantuan roar of Goodison as the players went off at half time, my calves were killing because of the awkward standing stress position, I couldn't speak properly for days later because of all the screaming and shouting. It was worth it though, I was never prouder to be an Evertonian. The fact we lost the shootout was secondary to the event I had just witnessed.

Was kipping in a hostel in town that night. Some of the fiorentina lads were staying there. The kept singing.. everton everton everton like it just stuck in their heads. They said they felt the stand moving after the second goal.

Seen a few good ones but I honestly thought the upper glwadys was going to collapse after the second goal. I honestly thought I could see it shaking.
