A bit of perspective.....

Player Valuation: £90m
For the first time since 2004 Everton sit in the top 6 after 10 games, in fact, we're 4th and only a few points behind a team who spend more money on players per season than we have in about a decade.

Despite having next to no money for transfers, we've built a squad who have lost just ONE game so far this season, that's despite 6 of our 10 games being away from home. We're playing some absolutely fantastic football at times, stuff that Stoke would be proud of, but luck hasn't always gone our way.

Now i'm not going to sit here and say that i'm happy we've drawn four games in a row, especially given the amount of chances we had to kill that game against Fulham off, but a little perspective is needed.

If somebody had said to me at the start of the season that we'd be in fourth and would have only lost a single game from ten then i'd have told them to put down the crack pipe, but that's the reality of the situation.

Frustrating that we're not doing even better (as we deserve) ? Sure. But this can't be seen as anything other than a great start to the season which many of us would never have anticipated.

WE'RE FOURTH FFS !!!

Three points against Sunderland next week and we're right back on the horse again.

Today once again confirmed we are missing a quality central midfielder.
Osman tries hard, neville tries hard and gibson is a better option than them both, but we do really miss a genuine quality box to box central midfielder.

If we had Arteta in that team, some of those draws would have been wins.

Absolutely right, the only thing you need to say is 'we are fourth', that slip up by Tottenham has benefited us and we will still be fourth when we play next weekend.

and the good thing is, Moyes also knows this is the missing piece of the jigsaw.

Odjidja-Ofoe could have made a real difference.

Can't disagree there, although i think swapping Neville for Gibson on its own would have brought in some more points (that free kick today for example).

We played sensationally. Absolutely no complaints from me. We had a bit of bad luck, but we had a bit of good luck against Liverpool.

Balances itself out.

For me, the performance drowns out the result. We're still on for a very, very good season.

Agree about luck balancing itself out in the long run, would definitely say the scales aren't tipped in our favour at the moment though. A few lucky deflections against Sunderland wouldn't go amiss.

It's also having perspective to acknowledge that we've dropped points needlessly and we're dropping some form.

I'd be more worried if these draws were all at home. Even when we were awesome at the end of last season we were still picking up draws at Wigan and QPR etc but our home form was great. Going to be an important month this, beat Reading away and pick up the wins we know we can get at Goodison and we should keep 4th place going into tough games against Arsenal, City and Spurs in form. Drop points at home to Sunderland and Norwich and I might not be so positive.

I'm still disappointed with the start. Obviously it's all well and good we're 4th, but we could and should be higher.

Dropping points the last 4 games, needlessly so. Sorry if I can't be happy with that.

Thank you. Hopefully this thread will go unnoticed by the hordes of fumers that popped up out of nowhere when Fulham equalised.

The amount of times we've completely outplayed teams is fantastic. Despite some individual performances dropping lately we've kept playing well and if we manage to keep the team fit, hopefully later on the team can hit some real form and start twatting people. If Jelavic had been on the ball over the last few weeks, we'd be in third now. The results hurt like a b*tch when you think about some of the spawny goals that have gone against us, but hey, we're fourth. I'm not happy, but it's a positive.

If we were top of the league and that Fulham game had happened, some people would still moan and give it "MoyLeZ oUt", like.
