8m Chang Deal!

I don't think the Indian thing has anything to do with getting players. I think it's about getting customers. The Indian middle class is growing very quickly indeed. I don't know if football will ever take hold in such a cricket mad country, but if it does then the potential market is huge.

There was a report on BBC world about this while i was stuck in a hotel the other week. football is booming, cities and large corporations are setting up sides and competing in leagues, and its getting real interest. Will take a good few years before it reaches, say, African levels though

early is the best time to be in.

Some thoughts on the Chang Deal
- it is a better deal than before
- No dout our poor corporate facilities and other things have to be factored into the price
- The deal seems to be about much more than instant revenue - things like club branding/profile in Asia (Academies etc)

8 million quid? Not bad, but as like the other threads say, its seems far from the best deal. Dont know to much about the deal, but maybe its more then the money for the shirt?

We have been tryin to crack the far east for a good few years now, and the more people over ther that see us branded with Chang, then the more merchandise we can sell. Just look at Man Utd to see just how much of there profit comes from far east sales.

As soon as we start to take more of a percentage from them and the [Poor language removed], then the sooner we can see that on the pitch

If that's the case then the Indian deal could be very handy if dealt with properly. If you're not convinced about the financial might India wields, consider who currently owns Corus (or British Steel as it once was). Consider who's soon to own Jaguar and Range Rover. Marque names in British industry owned by Indian companies. If football does take hold in India then it's an absolutely enormous market.

the india deal is obviously all about getting into the biggest emerging marketplace early on.

Soon to be the most populous country in the world - and the worlds largest democracy.

Like China, it will be hard to immediately make much money out of this.

The deal has little to do with looking for new talent really.

I'm of the opinion that this is a reasonable deal - with the exception of London based clubs were everything seems inflated the big money is only paid by "global" brands - let's face it - Chang is not a global brand and we are not currently considered prime advertising space.

A trophy or two plus Champions League appearances will change that perception.
