Worst decade for modern popular music by some distance imo, the 80s has also aged worse than any of the previous decades due to the unique production styles used at the time.

It was also the decade where image started to become as important as the music due to the rise of the music video, this combined with the introduction of cocaine into mainstream popular culture ultimately led to music going down a more superficial path.

Having said all that like every decade there is still a lot of great music to be found and I'll always have a soft spot for it due to the rise of synthesisers and electronic elements during this time. It also spawned the start of hip hop and rave culture.

on top of this I'm a massive fan of the current neo 80s sound which obviously wouldn't exist without the 80s.

Loads of sax solos in the 80s. Can't beat a sax solo.

A lot of the so called " 80's " bands where actually formed in the 70's though mate - Kraftwerk for instance, also New Wave bands like The Jam and Echo and Echo the Bunnymen too.

There's much more to the 80's than synth.

It's a great era for music x
