7th -> EL what does it take

...I think an EL place is allocated to the League Cup winners so if United win it an extra league place counts. If the FA Cup winners are in the Champions League, the runners up get the EL spot (I think).

Various issues which will prob become more clear over coming month..

.,e.g. What if Ranieri wins CL. What if he wins CL and fa cup

and/or

Spurs / MU win EL (and what if they are inside / outside top4) and/or win fa cup or lose final

Basically I think step 1 is hold off WBA and step 2 Man U need to win EFL.

This is not helping my hangover

Not sure on the runners up thing.
West Ham gained entry to the qual stages of europa last season by finishing 7th.

Unless it has changed this season?

Dont think so any nore Eggs. FA cup runner up no longer gets EL place if it id won by a team already qualified for Europe. It goes to the next highest PL position. (WHU last season).

So if Man U win league cup and any team in top 6 wins FS cup, then the 3rd EL spot goes to whoever finishes 7th.

Makes our upcoming game against WBA a 6 pointer.

Given that Man U are faves for the league cup and the 5 teams above us all looked nailed on to get through to the quarters of the FA cup (and therefore at least 3 should get through to the semis) then there is an excellent chance that we qualify for EL if we finish 7th.

I think there's a good chance we'll win this season's FFS cup. Everton aren't we?

5th get the EL then 2 more place are available. 1 via the league cup, so if Utd win it 6th get EL.

Then there the FA Cup one, if the team who wins it is 1-5th then 7th get it...if Utd win the EL cup

So if Southampton beat Utd we need we need to finish 6th.

To many different out comes at the moment

Obviously a European jolly would be great for us fans and would help improve our exposure as a club which in turn may attract incoming players.

On the other hand however, I wouldn't be overly concerned if we didn't get Europe this year as I worry that our squad will still be spread thin.

The easiest way would be to finish 6th.
At the moment the only way to guarantee is to finish 5th but that may change after League cup final.

Given our current position and remaining fixtures the most likely way is to finish 7th and other comps go our way. Sad but true.

Its still important to finish as close as possible to the teams above us.

If we can finish on mid 60s points wise and only 3/4 off teams above, then thats more thsn acceptable after that Autumn run of games. EL qualification, if it happens, would be a bonus.
