Russia attacked and started Winter War.

War lasted 105 days.

27,000 finns smashed
50,000-127,000 russians smashed

It was a cold war lads. Pretty much -40c week after week.

I remember studying this as part of the history curriculum, as a part of the second world war. Just looked it up on wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winter_War

Finland had 32 tanks and 114 planes; Russia had at least 3,543 tanks - according to the number of them reported as destroyed.

The guy @Prevenger17 posted a picture of was a sniper himself - the Russians called him "the White Death" and he was credited with over five HUNDRED kills.

I offer my respect to Finland's veterans and their fallen comrades. And indeed to the Russian troops who probably did not want to invade in the first place, but were forced to by Stalin.

True. Motivation was a factor. Finns used it as a weapon too. While russians were freezing in the pits finns had saunas 100metres behind the front line
