Eddie Jones to sign a new contract taking him up to 2023 and the next World Cup.

A massive boost for English rugby and the RFU if he signs. He took them to the brink of World Cup success only finding a final, one week after convincingly beating the 'mighty' all blacks, was another hurdle far too soon and one they were unable to overcome.

I'm still convinced the route to the final and having to beat NZ one week before, ultimately proved their undoing, even if losing a prop in the first minute meant on the day their pack couldn't cope either, Wales aren't the all blacks and the advantage of the other half of the draw was huge.

(Although this wasn't a shock by any means and South Africa worthy winners, losing the next match after acheiving the 'toughest feat of all' and beating the all blacks has been a common occurrence - perhaps beating them in the final is the only safe time to do so.

Notably France in their own world cup in a massive upset when a weak England team caused a huge shock and Australia in 2003 who likewise lost to England)

I thought the last world cup was the most entertaining and well hosted rugby world cup I've watched (in difficult circumstances for the hosts). The game was expanded at this tournament and its a bit of a shame a pretty boring cynical side won it in the end. but on the whole the tournament was fantastic.
