You alright @LinekersLegs @webspiderus @Kay20 and anyone else I've forgotten.

I'm out of town.
Hell of a way to wake up :-( Thankfully no damage for us and as far as I'm aware none locally in Redwood City but unfortunately not so lucky in Napa. Hope the injuries there are not as serious as they sound.

Lasted a long time - sounded a bit like a rolling crack of thunder as the whole house rattled, wardrobe doors etc.
A reminder to check the emergency supplies and the latest in earthquake drills...

was pretty light here in Mountain View - i was actually just going to sleep and couldn't figure out what was happening! my mother was a little closer to the epicenter (seems it was in Napa), said she had a solid 4 minutes of it which sounds like it would test my resolve for sure

Hope you lads are all ok. But you are pretty use to it arnt you? Like have earthquake proof houses and stuff.

98% of the UK would just disappear if we had a 6.0 earthquake.

@Kay20 is in Berkeley which is a few miles north of my place. I think we are all far enough from Napa to be OK.

Scary stuff earthquakes. The Hayward Fault which runs under the East Bay is overdue for a big one...6.7-7.0 according to scientists.

Most of the buildings are built with some sort of seismic reinforcement...older buildings are the most at risk, unless they've been retrofitted. Still scary as fook when they happen.

Must be. I think new skyscrapers, (by our standards!) and that have some tolerance built into them, but in my village, for example, my house is about 80 years old, and the church, pub, and several other houses are 400 years old ffs!

I've been living in the bay area proper for like 4 years now, this is probably the biggest one I've seen - certainly the biggest + closest one I've felt in the 15 years I've been in California, even.

Yeah...my apartment was built over 90 years ago...and I'm on the 6th floor. Probably would have been quite scary to be there.
