5 reasons why we hammered Manchester City tonight

Mate football is tribal, insults are exchanged. It's just the way it is, back in the 30s it was a little more dignified, but the world has evolved - you have to take the rough with the smooth, and to be fair, us Evertonians have got quite a few reasons to be pissed off at City.

I mean clearly your a club who has won the lottery but has failed to maintain class or dignity. Some of your fans, Mark Hughes, Bellamy, that Cook fella who's a complete tool of epic proportions.

You have all this money yet you behave like chavs - and I'm talking generally here.

And then you have the old Man U rivalry thing, your more bothered about putting one over on Man U rather than progress your club.

And now that you have the money, it's almost like the last 30 years didn't exist, and you never got relegated and you deserve this chance of winning lots of trophies. It kind of smacks of new money.

Here at Everton we are doing things the right way, we run a football club how it should be run. We have a great academy, we look after the fans, we have the same spirit that you get at junior level, and it's not all about the bank balance.

Unfortunately for you guys that's all its going to be about, the bank balance.

As much as I'm enjoying being a City fan right now, I am wary of the massive downsides that could happen to having all that money.

Obviously we could do a leeds if were not careful and a lot of clubs will now wish we will do a leeds (we nearly did a leeds when thaksin was in charge actually)

Now our Youth Academy isn't too bad either and i could go through a list of players we've produced namely giggs before he left to join the red [Poor language removed] and SWP etc, but what I fear the most is that we won't give our youngsters a chance now. We'll be too busy spending stupid sums of money on average players when we could be looking to put the money into good use i.e. with the academy.

Does anybody really believe this kind of stuff about other clubs? It's the kind of thing the redsh*te are always saying about us - "You'd rather see Liverpool lose than win yourselves you bunch of bitter bluenoses."

No. I wouldn't.

Yes, I want to see them lose every game. Yes, I want to always finish above them. Yes, if we don't win the league, I'd rather any other team than them did.

But not at the expense of Everton.

There may be one or two City fans who would prefer United to lose than City to win, just as there may be one or two Blues who'd rather see Liverpool lose, one or two kopites who'd rather see us lose, one or two mancs who rather see Liverpool lose. But as a bloc? I don't buy it.

They're just like you and me...only not as good obviously :D

Have to say though mate I was shocked to see that embarassing amount of empty seats at the end of the game. Did that many fans spit their dummy out? That's loyalty for you?

Can we have Adam Johnson off you when your billionaires inevitably bring in 4/5/6/7 more big money signings in the summer? Aside from Tevez I thought he was about the only one causing us any real problems tonight.

Beat me to it...yup, hypocrisy was deeply embedded in that whopper of a statement.

Hang on, you saying i'm a hypocrite?

Of course I like to see Liverpool lose, but if Everton also lose i'm pissed off. Also, what the **** have Liverpool done in trophies (CL aside), not really been ripping up trees like Man U have.

I can't honestly tell you why we don't fill our ground week in week out.
It's a real shame considering the results we've been getting this season and how we usually take a fair amount to away games.
Don't think we've quite hit the popular heights in world football yet sadly.
Ah I'm only 17 what would I know

Don't worry, all the Southerners will pad it out for you.

What I was getting at was that there were 45,000 fans at half time, and it seemed like there was 10,000 left at the end.

Seemed a little childish to me.

Haha no chance pal!
Na i'd like to think we can keep our young english players.
Even though he didn't have the best of games tonight, I still can't wait to see what sort of prospect he turns out to be :D
