I agree. I remember being in Goodison in the 80s and it was heaving....then the 30,000 attendance flashed up and you just knew it was rubbish.Historical attendance figures at Goodison are a joke they used to say the crowd was in the 30's yet you couldn't move and this was when the place held 55k.
It used to drive us all nuts they nicked part of your bragging rights to save a few quid on tax.
I read somewhere the club got nailed in the 1920s (I think) for this by the tax man, and a leopard don't change it's spots.
The advent of seating and electronic payment has removed this little scam.
